Wide-Ranging Lessons From Notable Breaches in Q1

Recent data breaches at Walgreens, Fifth Third Bank, Health Share of Oregon, Hanna Andersson and Keepnet Labs had some unique features, but hold lessons for more quotidian incidents. In a recent webinar hosted by Privacy Ref, privacy consultant Ben Siegel reviewed the “good, bad and ugly” of these breaches. The Cybersecurity Law Report also spoke to Siegel about prevention strategies, including conducting privacy impact assessments, managing access controls, incorporating data privacy provisions into data processing agreements and testing for penetration vulnerabilities.
