Companies May Need to Re-Examine Approach to Breach Response Preparedness According to Experian Survey

Experian Data Breach Resolution (Experian) recently surveyed several hundred directors, senior executives and other personnel to take the pulse of their organizations’ breach response preparedness, their methods and their perspectives on response preparedness. It was most surprising that the study found businesses lacked preparedness, Experian vice president Michael Bruemmer told the Cybersecurity Law Report. “While 92 percent of companies say they have a data breach preparedness plan in place, only 52 percent of businesses rated their data breach response plans as very effective,” he said. This article offers benchmarking data and analyzes the survey results, with additional insights from Bruemmer.
