The E.U.’s unique structure results in both E.U.-level directives and national-level cybersecurity regulation, creating challenges for multinational companies. A seminar at the recent Privacy+Security Forum offered an update on the cyber regulatory regime in Europe, including an overview of the Network Information Security Directive and its implementation, the key provisions and potential impact of the new Cybersecurity Act, and a proposed ePrivacy regulation. The program featured Benjamin Docquir, partner at Osborne Clarke Verein; Alexander Niejelow, senior vice president at Mastercard; and Ari M. Schwartz, managing director of cybersecurity services at Venable.
