DOJ Spotlights Emerging Issues and Protection Strategies Around Business Email Compromise Attacks

Business email compromise (BEC) attacks are a growing drain on companies. In an effort to allay the rise in losses caused by BEC attacks, federal authorities and agencies in 11 countries collaborated to arrest 281 people accused of using these email scams to trick victims into paying money. We examine the arrests and indictments, the risks BEC schemes pose, how the schemes are evolving, and strategies for preventing these attacks and cooperating with law enforcement.
