The vast number of apps regularly being added to the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store reflect a virtual marketplace where app developers are under significant pressure to be the first to market, “disrupt” industries and/or be the first to innovate a new market. Rushing to market without first devoting time and resources to legal compliance, however, can pose significant business risk for companies down the road. One area where it is important to ensure compliance early on is the protection of children’s privacy.
