Navigating the Global Cross-Border Privacy Rules and Privacy Recognition for Processors Certification Systems

New global cross-border privacy rules have gained momentum as a scalable framework that supports the effective flow of data internationally. The Global Cross-Border Privacy Rules Forum announced on April 30, 2024, the establishment of two certification systems – Global Cross-Border Privacy Rules and Privacy Recognition for Processors – with the appointment of accountability agents to assess organizations seeking certification. This article discusses the history, purpose and core elements of the systems’ certifications.
