State and federal regulators continue to adopt new cybersecurity regulations at a breakneck pace. Together with the fragmented sectoral approach and the emergence of AI and digital assets, the proliferation of new laws presents significant challenges, especially for larger organizations that are subject to multiple regulatory regimes. This article examines key aspects of 2023’s cyber regulatory landscape in the U.S., including the SEC’s ambitious rulemaking agenda and new cyber governance mandates.
